In a late 19th century eclecticism style building, one part of the apartment had acquired new layers in the Soviet years and “wild” 1990s after Latvia regained its independence. Fortunately, the other part still maintained many of its original features, such as cornices and coved ceilings. This contrast is one we decided to keep in place, play with and enhance. The tactful balance between the old and new forms the backbone of the design as we preserved what was left and injected brave new elements, upholding the distinction between the two parts of the apartment.

Another guiding motive was the clients’ collection of art by Latvian painter Kristīne Luīze Avotiņa, whose expressive style resonates with their sense of taste and attitude to life. Her works markedly influenced the apartment’s colour palette and fabric selection. The clients – a family of five – allow themselves to enjoy life to the fullest, and their joy and passion both fuelled and inspired us too.

All in all, our collaboration on this project lasted almost four years as we delved deep into the details, which together conjure a highly personalised home. The clients feel good in their new home. They describe it as a comfortable environment full of a lively energy.
We have integrated a dedicated space for leisure and hobbies for each of the family members. The green kids playground easily is combined with ladies greenery.

Three children rooms have each their own colourful personality. As the bathroom is shared, the difference in sizes of the sinks does divide the personal space in very visually appealing way.
Also kids bedrooms are colour toned with different personalities to support the individuality of each.

Master bedroom is filled with dark red tones, giving it very elegant vibe. The red drapery continues in wardrobe section. As well the bedroom curtains double in the master bathroom. The pattern is added to bathroom furniture, creating synchronised feeling across the room.

We created the space from functional planning through to furniture design. The result was a popular restaurant and nightlife spot in Riga old town. The budget allowed us to exercise our creativity in using affordable materials and upcycling such as wood cuts. All the furniture and design pieces, except the bar chairs, are the work of lead architect and designer Zane Tetere-Sulce.
Unfortunately, DStyle has since closed down.

A family apartment in Riga. Located in the Lofts & Rosegold residential complex, which comprises a preserved but adapted historical riding arena and a seven-storey newbuild. The concept of the building is focused on celebrating architecture as a form of art and creating a contemporary hygge-driven living space in an affluent part of the city.

The owners of the apartment imagined a light, spacious and cosy home. They appreciate the neoclassicism style. Considering the wishes and needs of the family with young children, and the context of the living space, we created a bespoke design inspired by the concept of the building, and the ascetic, reserved spirit of the North. The material palette of wood, marble, metal, textiles and glass exudes quality and respect for established, long-term solutions.

We adapted the floor plan to better suit the family’s lifestyle. The apartment now consists of three bedrooms, an office, playroom, open living room and kitchen, corridor, technical room and walk-in wardrobe. It benefits from access to six balconies.

The apartment in Riga demonstrates OAD’s skills in furniture design and celebrates the high level of craftsmanship in Latvia. We worked with long-term partners to produce the bespoke features, such as the wall panelling, kitchen units and child’s bedroom furniture. Select design pieces by brands including Masiero, Artisan, Moroso and Vibia complement the custom-made elements.The riding arena dates back to 1895 and is the work of architect Karl Johann Felsko.

A well thought-out open office layout focused on the wishes and productivity of the employee.
We positioned work stations near the windows along the exterior walls of the building to benefit from the daylight. The workspace area is separated by white and designed in neutral shades, while the core of the office with common areas and meeting rooms is more saturated in colour and furnishings. We made sure every area receives natural light.

Ergonomics and acoustics were key considerations in the planning process. All work stations are ergonomic. The walls of the public areas are clad in acoustic panels and sound absorbing felt is used in the meeting rooms.
Ficus trees and other larger indoor plants help ensure air quality and a healthy microclimate.

KOYA restaurant is located in an industrial area of Riga with a mix of properties such as abandoned Soviet time port buildings, artists’ workshops and even a yacht club.

KOYA means lean-to or awning in Japanese. The idea was to embrace the existing atmosphere and stylistics of the area, retain it and contribute to it in a creative way while also adding a modern touch.

We created the interior by working with contrasts and materials in large planes and forms rather than decorations and small details. The restaurant building was renovated to retain the effect of the original shed (the existing plank ceiling was left without changes), using the existing brick walls. We added the contemporary feel through the contrast between the old robust ceiling planks and glossy, smooth black glass wall and adding huge metal chandeliers.

Large planes and sizes, simple new materials (a long bar and standing tables with black metal finishing and oak surfaces), tall plank doors, huge chandeliers and furniture with metal elements. Together they create a contrast against the industrial setting but do not challenge and conflict with it.

Located in the heart of Riga’s lively district, Andalūzijas Suns combines eclectic charm with a relaxed, bohemian vibe. The interior reflects a mix of southern European warmth and local creativity. Rustic wooden furniture, mismatched chairs, vibrant textiles, and quirky vintage elements come together to create a cozy, laid-back atmosphere.
The space is filled with art prints and carefully curated second-hand decor, giving it a lived-in and welcoming feel. It's a favourite among artists, freelancers, and anyone looking for a place that feels both homey and inspiring.

The Villa Milia club project is a true example of collectible real estate. Such projects have no competition, they are out of the market, they are always in demand and always valuable. Unlike the usual four-story new Jurmala projects, this building has only three floors, so the ceiling height on the first two floors is 3.50 meters, and on the third – 3.80 m. The project provides for 15 apartments, although potential owners can use the opportunity to combine apartments and carry out the necessary reconstruction. All apartments have terraces. A special option for first-floor apartments is to dispose of the adjacent territory from 50 to 150 m2. Villa Milia residents will have the opportunity to appreciate the heating elements in the floor, individual heating and a common gas boiler room, as well as a convenient parking lot with two spaces for each apartment.

OAD’s task was to design a thoughtful and ergonomic yet enjoyable interior for the clinic. Functionality and efficiency have always been important, but we never compromise on style.

The monolithic ceiling color and purple interior elements reflect Skride’s Clinic’s visual communication guidelines, creating a strong representation of the company’s identity. The convenience of clinic guests is prioritized by providing clear directions, comfortable waiting areas, and a children’s area. Our goal was to create a welcoming and secure environment for visitors, ensuring they always feel comfortable and at ease.

The choice of materials ensures both durability and visual appeal. Light boxes define different zones within the clinic and guide the flow of movement. To preserve the spaciousness of the rooms and maximize daylight, privacy is achieved with matte stickers that also enhance the interior design.

Our design for the Mulberry patisserie in Riga acknowledges the history, reputation and ambience of the so-called ‘Quiet Centre’ neighbourhood. It’s characterised by historical grandeur, manicured parks and well-to-do residents. Mulberry is located on the ground floor of an authentic Art Nouveau building by renowned architect Konstantīns Pēkšēns. The 20th century building has just recently been restored to its original glory and is now among Riga’s most high-end historical apartment complexes. We chose to marry the interior with the exterior through the colour scheme. The colour of the mulberry was also a symbolic source of inspiration.

To honour history, we introduced 21st century interpretations of the wall panelling and cornices which had disappeared from the ground floor space. The furniture is a modern take on classic pieces. We embraced rich materials like velvet, marble, brass and wood. The flowing shapes of the furniture are a nod to Art Nouveau. The bespoke counter is both eye-catching and functional as it serves to display the meticulously crafted pastries and cakes.

The dining area is designed to encourage a slow enjoyment and celebrating life’s little moments. Cosy window seats lure passers-by to take a break and indulge. A handmade wall decor honours the craftsmanship and skill of the pastry chefs. The collage is made of sieves, spoons and spatulas. It references just how much work and attention goes into every pastry. This incredible attention to detail was also a guiding principle for us in the overall design of the Mulberry patisserie.
